Question: WHAT IF TAXES WERE LOWERED FOR PEOPLE THAT HAD MORE KIDS INSTEAD OF BEING INCREASED?
summary
The government essentially said that if you were to have only one child you would benefit more by receiving less taxes. Boys were seen as more desirable children and because of this, there became a problem with the adoption of females in China, as well as the killing of female children. There were also marriage laws where you could only get married once you were 20 (M=22 W=20).
